If all goes well, Jerry Bostic will complete Saturday's Charleston Distance Run in about one hour, 45 minutes.

If so, it would be quite an accomplishment for the 46-year-old Teays Valley resident and would make him competitive in the men's 45-49 division. It also would reflect some nice improvement - he ran a 1:49:41 to finish eighth in the division in the annual 15-mile race last year.

A Distance Run veteran, Bostic competes in a variety of other runs, including the 2005 Boston Marathon, and his devotion to fitness occasionally proves beneficial in his stressful job as a St. Albans firefighter.
